Turkey still backs Jabhat al-Nusra: Salih Muslim

4.8.2013 – Kurdpress – The co-leader of Syrian pro-Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) Salih Muslim blamed Turkey government for what he claimed the country’s support to the extremist Islamic group of Jabhat al-Nusra that is fighting Kurdish forces in the Syrian northern Kurdish region controlled by PYD armed wing, People’s Defense Units (YPG), Taraf daily said.

“I don’t want to tell Turkey is directly arming al-Nusra. the attempts may be conducted by some part of Turkey government which are called the shadow governments,”  Muslim said, claiming that the group is easily receiving arms and ammunition in Turkey border with Syria.

The Kurdish leader further voiced his optimism about the improving relation between Turkey and Syria Kurds, stressing that the Kurds respect the relation and don’t went to harm them. In a part of his interview with Taraf daily, Muslim said he has been in contact with the jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Abdullah Ocalan since 1986, but denied to have joined the Kurdish militants.
