TODAY’S MESOP COMMENTARIES : BY CEMIL BAYIK – Cemil Bayik: AKP’s policy is based on buying time

KCK Executive Council Co-chair Cemil Bayık said that Turkish government policy is based on buying time and added, “In the current situation there is nothing left to the Kurdish Liberation Movement and the people other than stepping up the struggle.” KCK Executive Council Co-chair Cemil Bayık has evaluated recent statements by the Turkish authorities on the peace process in an article published in Azadiya Welat.

Some parts of his article are as follows:

“The AKP government’s psychological war discourse minister, Besir Atalay, has stated as usual that “the process is going well, there is no problem”. He didn’t refrain from making threats, as he does after all of his statements. He gave misleading information by saying that the talks were being carried out between the politicians. What he understands from talks with politicians is nothing more than having talks with HDP deputies, as they have always had. Probably they repeat the decades old discourse in these talks: ‘the problem cannot be solved in a short time. The government will takes steps if the guerrilla forces and the people remain inactive, and of course after the elections’. They particularly want to prevent the resistance of people against the construction of military posts, dams and roads for military use. Because the construction of  military posts shows the real face of the government. People find building military posts on the one hand and talking about peace on the other hand contradictory, and therefore react.

When it is the Kurdish problem under consideration, the talks and the meetings no longer make any sense. The Kurdish problem is now fully revealed in all its aspects. Having discussions without taking serious steps for the solution serves only to degenerate the issue called the Kurdish problem. The solution on the other hand has long been matured. There is no other problem in the world which has lasted this long. By now all the words and each passing day without steps to bring a solution only mean decaying and diminishing the basis for a solution.

What is being done and said by Besir Atalay at the moment are of this character. Unless serious steps are taken, we have to consider all his words in this context. We should not have any expectations, as the policy of the AKP depends on buying time through creating expectations but doing nothing. Therefore, the statements of Besir Atalay, Bulent Arinc and of the ministers are not contradictory but complementary.

In the current situation there is nothing left to the Kurdish Liberation Movement and the people other than stepping up the struggle. The Kurdish Liberation Movement has taken all the steps for a resolution as well as for encouraging it. It has proven its will for a democratic political solution, however it has found no response. This is why there is no other choice for the Kurdish Liberation Movement than stepping up the struggle. The Kurdish Leader Abdullah Ocalan will of course continue to hold out  hope in a no conflict period, and there will be mounting demands for peace to force the government towards a solution. The Kurdish Leader Ocalan has pursued this task seriously and meticulously for many years. He keeps alive the basis for a resolution politically and ideologically.  The Kurdish Leader attempts to give a positive direction by evaluating the level reached by the struggle, the developments in the Middle East, the Rojava Revolution and the political deadlock of the Turkish state. He has created a basis for a solution.”

Cemil Bayik ends his article by calling on all the democratic forces to step up the struggle to strengthen the basis for a solution and to force the Turkish government to take steps for a genuine solution. http://en.firatajans.com/news/news/cemil-bayik-akp-s-policy-is-based-on-buying-time.htm
