Syria Kurdish parties agree on autonomy

 1.9.2013 – Kurdpress – The Syrian Kurdish parties made consensus on establishing an autonomous region in the northern Kurdish areas of the country, Firta news said.

Parties affiliated to Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and blocs close to Kurdistan Region president Massoud Barzani made an agreement to establish a local autonomous region to govern the Kurdish regions. All 16 Kurdish parties in Syria Kurdish National Council (KNC) have announced their support to the autonomy, Pro-Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) leading official Aldar Khalil said, adding that other minorities in the regions, including Arabs and Asyrians will have representatives in the autonomous structure.
