Six Kurdish political activists from Mahabad imprisoned

EAST KURDISTAN (IRAN) – PDKI on November 8, 2012 in Human Rights, News : Six Kurdish political activists from the Kurdish city of Mahabad, who had been released on bail, have been imprisoned to serve their sentences. The six Kurdish political activists were arrested last year together with fourteen other Kurdish political activists, some of them were not released on bail. Iran’s intelligence service “Ettelaat” brought in the six activists for interrogation, but later informed them that they would serve out their prison sentences.

The names and sentences of the 12 of the 20 activists are as follows:

1. Ali Porna sentenced to 3 years in prison.

2. Osman Qadrzadeh sentenced to 3 years in prison.

3. Mohammed Izzeddost sentenced to 2 years in prison.

4. Enwer Izzeddost sentenced to 2 years in prison.

5. Smko Ossmani sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

6. Soleiman Rahimzadeh sentenced to 4 years in prison.

7. Osman Meolaninejad sentenced to 5 years in prison.

8. Ali Meolaninejad sentenced to 5 years in prison.

9. Mohammed Amin Qaderzade sentenced to 4 years in prison.

10. Naser Teriq sentenced to 5 years in prison.

11. Selim Chraghmenan sentenced to 4 years in prison.

12. Smail Ahmedpoor sentenced to 5 years in prison.

The remaining 8 activists have either fled Iran or are waiting to be imprisoned. Many of the activists have been arrested on charges of supporting Kurdish opposition groups or conducting activities that “threatens the unity of Iran”.
