Salih Muslim: Syria Kurdish leader denies Turkey foreign minister conditions to negotiate

Amsterdam –  Kurd Press / MESOP  – 12.4.2013 – The co-leader of the Syrian pro-Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), Saleh Muslim, says his party is ready to talk to Turkey officials and negotiate about the crisis in Syria but denied the pre-conditions announced by Ankara Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.

In a political forum in Ankara, the Turkish foreign minister had announced that PYD should “stop supporting Syria regime,” avid from helping Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and do not specify territories in the Kurdish regions of Syria before any free parliament elections in the country.  Talking to reporters in Amsterdam, Netherland, Muslim called the pre-conditions meaningless and illogical and said his party does not back Syrian government and PKK does not need PYD, stressing that the PYD is ready to negotiate with Turkey anywhere and anytime.

Speaking with Kurdpress news agency last month, Muslim said his party would not hesitate in backing Syrian oppositions if Turkey Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and PKK jailed leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan come to terms over the PKK withdrawing from Turkey and solving the country’s Kurdish conflict.
