PYD visits Talabani’s party in Slemani

Van Wilgenburg  30.12.2012 – The Democratic Union Party (PYD) visited the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Slemani. In a meeting with senior PUK official Mala Bakhtyar they discussed recent developments. The PYD earlier visited Baghdad and recently met with Change list leader Nawshirwan Mustafa (head of the biggest opposition party in Kurdistan region of Iraq).

 Saleh Muslim co-leader of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) announced to PUKmedia that his visit to Iraq came as a response to an official invitation from the President Jalal Talabani, stressing that the President’s health situation had a significant impact on Kurds.

    Muslim mentioned that Talabani’s invitation aimed at holding talks regarding the recent developments in Syria, adding that the President health situation had prevented their meeting and instead Muslim had met with Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Minister of foreign affairs including PYD’s delegation.  Regarding the reactions and accusations made by some Kurdish Parties for his visit to Baghdad, Muslim said that he is ready to meet with any side in the aim of serving the Kurds in western Kurdistan, adding that PYD is an independent political party.   Saleh Muslim had expressed his concerns regarding the President’s health situation stressing that Iraq and Kurdistan Region needs Talabani’s wise leadership, he also wished a quick recovery for the President.
