Poll shows intense competition between BDP & AKP in Turkey Kurdish regions
1. The BDP is ahead of the AKP in 8 provinces of Diyarbakir, Sirnak, Hakkari, Van, Siirt, Mardin, Igdir and Batman.
2. The BDP has failed to defeat The AKP in 5 Kurdish provinces of Agri, Bingol, Bitlis, Mus and Orfa.
3. The BDP votes have increased in Kurdish province of Dersim, known as a main opposition Republican People’s Party’s (CHP) stronghold, and the pro-Kurdistan party is third after AKP with a tiny distance.
The BDP, however, is third in Ardahan, far behind from the second party.
4. The BDP is third in Sanliorfa, Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan’s birthplace. The votes demonstrate the province is still under the influence of the Islamic discourse.
5. Islamic Saadat Party is third in two Kurdish provinces of Batman and Urfa. The result proves the party is improving in the provinces.
6. The CHP, as the Kemalist party of Turkey, has gained less than 10 percents of Votes in 13 provinces. The party, however, is first in Dersim and Ardaham.
7. The BPP is first and the CHP is second in Kurdish-Turkish province of Igdir, a result that shows the province is potential to witness racial tension.
8. The results show the BDP has not been able to gain more votes in comparison to recent years.
Turkey analyst, however, believe the success of peace talks between Ankara government and PKK will increase the BDP votes at least in 11 provinces.
The BDP is Know in Turkey as the political wing of PKK in the country.
