Poll says Erdogan, pro- Ocalan deputies run close in elections

12-1-2014 – Kurdpress – According to a poll conducted by ORC Company, the race for Turkey municipality elections is too close between the pro- PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan candidates and the candidates of ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Led by PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The poll has been conducted in Turkey Kurdish provinces of Diyarbakir, Mardin, Sanliurfa, Malatia and Gaziantep. The pro- PKK candidates, Gultan Kisanak, Ahmet Turk are ahead of their rivals in Diyarbakir and Mardin with 44 and 38 percents of the votes respectively. But the pro- AKP candidates are ahead of the pro- PKK candidates in the other three provinces. According to the poll, the newcomer Kurdish Hur Dawa Partisi will won a large number Islamic votes. The situation will finally benefit the pro- Kurdish and Democracy Party (BDP).  The Islamic Kurdish party has stated it aims to win the votes of the Kurds who believe in Islam but also back nationalist discourse.
