Political stalemate in Turkey as peace commission annulled

Kurdpress 22-11-2013 – New political stalemate hits Turkey after parliament speaker Cemil Cicek ordered dissolving the commission that is seeking to change the country’s constitution to bring reform to the country, Hurriyet daily reported.

Writing 4 letters to the leaders of the main four parties of the country, Cicek ordered the dissolution of the commission. The move was however blamed by the three oppositions of the country. The parties stated the parliament speaker is not allowed to annul the commission.Main opposition Republican Peoples’ Party (CHP) Deputy Atyla Kurt said according to the commission’s Article 15 only the parties can decided about the fate of the commission. Solving Kurdish issue and meeting the rights of the Kurds is the main aim of the commissions.
