PESHMERGA SPOKESMAN JABBAR YAWAR: THE BORDER WITH SYRIA IS OPENED
Ninanews – 8.1.2013 – The ministry spokesman, Jabbar Yawar said, in a press statement Monday, January 7: “The news of the closure of the Kurdistan region borders with Syria and fenced them with barbed wire is untrue.”
He added “All that the border area between the region and Syria is open, but there are not state border crossings to traffic and trade” but he also said that “the provincial government cannot, legally and constitutionally, open official border crossings in this region.” He continued: “Despite this and for humanitarian and national reasons, the Government of the province seeks to cooperate with the all affected people in Syria.”
