ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Overnight Turkish raids felled power transmission lines in rural parts of the Kurdistan Region near the border with Turkey, local sources said on Saturday.
Ankara’s operation was targeting suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) near the Qandil Mountains, where the armed group is headquartered. Nearby villages lost electricity due to the Turkish strikes.
The attack terrorized rural populations and caused severe damage to the area’s infrastructure, locals told Kurdistan 24. The Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Region reported an interruption to the supply of electricity in the area.
The ongoing clashes recently caused 17 additional villages to fully evacuate, authorities in Duhok announced on Saturday. In total, at least 200 rural communities have fled the region due to the Turkey-PKK fighting.

Clashes between PKK, Iranian Kurdish opposition group in Erbil province
Khazan Jangiz 4 July 2021 – RUDAW – ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Clashes broke out between the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) and the military wing of a Iranian Kurdish political group in Erbil province over the weekend, a military leader confirmed to Rudaw on Sunday.
“The PKK guerillas apparently were not aware of our trainings. They first came here and asked us to move away, and we agreed, but to showcase their power and force, they came back and fired shots in the air over our base, and our Peshmerga answered their shots,” Abdullah Azarbar, head of the military wing of the Komala party, an Iranian Kurdish political group, told Rudaw.
Azarbar said their fighters had been attending a military training course in Erbil’s Sidakan sub-district for the past few days, and have now begun coordinating with local security forces after tensions with the PKK broke out on Saturday evening. No one was injured, he added.

All foreign forces must leave, Taliban says of Turkish plan to secure Kabul airport
Rudaw – ERBIL – 3 July 2021 – Mohammed Naeem, spokesperson for Taliban’s politburo, in an interview with Rudaw’s Rozhan Abubakir, said that Afghanistan, which he dubbed an Islamic emirate, will enjoy good relations with all nations, but firmly rejects the presence of any foreign forces on Afghan soil.
“Our relations with other countries will be good, but the presence of foreign forces is totally rejected,” he said in the July 2 interview. Turkey has offered to secure Kabul’s international airport as US troops withdraw.
Rudaw: You have been holding talks with the US in Doha for some time. What is the outcome of these talks?

Hiwa Shilani ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The US Department of State says that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party is continuing to recruit and arm children and then push them into areas of conflict, especially the Qandil mountains.
The PKK is based in Qandil and uses the area as a launchpad for attacks on Turkish forces, in addition to occupying border villages.
In its 2021 report on human trafficking, the State Department said: “Multiple sources report the PKK and People’s Protection Units (YPG) operating in the [Kurdistan Region of Iraq] and Sinjar continued to recruit and use children. In 2021, an unverified source reported that the PKK recruited dozens of children to prepare them for combat, including children from Kirkuk, Iraq.”

3 July 2021 – Hundreds of humanitarian workers formed a human chain on Friday stretching from a border crossing with Turkey toward a rebel-held city in northwestern Syria to protest Russia’s attempts to close the only remaining border crossing that allows aid into areas held by Syrian insurgents.
More than 2,000 humanitarian workers took part in the demonstration ahead of a July 10 deadline on whether the Bab al-Hawa crossing will remain open for aid. Syria’s government and its ally Russia want the aid to start coming through government-controlled parts of the war-torn country.

- AKTUALISIERT AM 07.2021-05:23 FAZ – In einer Umfrage sagten 61 Prozent der Befragten, dass die Grünen Robert Habeck aufstellen hätten sollen. Baerbock verteidigte unterdessen ihr Buch erneut. Die Frage, ob sie ihre Kandidatur an Habeck abtreten könnte, ließ sie unbeantwortet.
Eine Mehrheit der Wahlbürger hält es laut einer Civey-Umfrage für einen Fehler, dass die Grünen mit Annalena Baerbock und nicht mit ihrem Co-Vorsitzenden Robert Habeck als Kanzlerkandidaten in die Bundestagswahl ziehen. Demnach sagen 61 Prozent, dass sich die Grünen falsch entschieden haben, und nur 24 Prozent halten Baerbocks Kandidatur für richtig. Der Rest zeigte sich unentschieden in der Frage. Dies ergibt eine repräsentative Umfrage des Meinungsforschungsinstituts Civey im Auftrag der Zeitung Augsburger Allgemeine.

Aber Raisis Aufstieg zur Macht wäre nicht ohne offene Unterstützung durch das Establishment, die politische Strömung der Prinzipalisten und die so genannten „Hisbollahis“ geschehen.
Letztere sind eine aufstrebende revolutionäre Kraft, die in den letzten zwei Jahrzehnten unter dem Schirm der Prinzipalisten agierte und nun bereit zu sein scheint, als neuer und wichtiger Akteur in der iranischen politischen Arena aufzutreten.
„Mit der Wahl von Sayed Ebrahim Raisi werden wir einen viel stärker revolutionärer Iran sehen als zuvor“, sagte eine der Raisi-Kampagne nahestehende Quelle gegenüber Al-Monitor. Die Quelle, die unter der Bedingung der Anonymität sprach, sagte, dass Raisi nie ein Prinzipalist gewesen sein und betonte, dass der gewählte Präsident selbst dies gesagt habe, als er 2017 für das Amt kandidierte.
