Lebanon’s population has been traumatized by the massive explosion in Beirut in early August, and Lebanon’s government has resigned. The disaster left more than 150 dead, thousands injured and tens of thousands with ruined homes. It will cost billions of dollars to rebuild, and Lebanon already faced a financial crisis and bailout that could cost almost $100 billion. Now, competition is growing among countries to help rebuild Lebanon and acquire influence in its post-explosion politics. This could lead to conflict over who has control of the region’s landscape.
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : SDF says Turkey tried to kill local Kurdish-Syrian official, violating ceasefire agreements
Wladimir van Wilgenburg | 22 Aug 2020 – ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, on Sunday announced on Twitter that Turkey earlier this week had attempted to assassinate a local defense official near Ain al-Issa.
During the attack, the driver of the senior defense official was killed and one of the passengers was injured.
Abdi did not specify how the official was targeted. However, it is most likely that a Turkish drone was involved in the assassination.

Aufgrund Bidens Alter (er wird im November 78) und seiner bekannten kognitiven Probleme kommt der Entscheidung viel größeres Gewicht zu als bei früheren Präsidentschaftswahlen. Sollte Biden im November gewinnen, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit hoch, dass Kamala Harris seine Nachfolgerin wird – und zwar eher früher als später, sehr wahrscheinlich lange vor dem regulären Ende von Bidens erster Amtszeit im Januar 2025. Ohne selbst gewählt worden zu sein oder auch nur an der parteiinternen Vorwahl der Demokraten teilgenommen zu haben (wegen ihrer miesen Umfragewerte warf sie noch vor der ersten Abstimmung das Handtuch), würde sie dann Präsidentin der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika werden.
Das ist beängstigend, denn anders, als sie und ihre urplötzlich aus dem Nichts entstandene Gemeinde von Bewunderern es darstellen möchten, ist Kamala Harris alles andere als eine integre Person.
