Recent attacks on the Syrian opposition forces in the heart of territories overseen by Turkey have raised questions about how sustainable the current status quo along the lines of contact really is.
The current relative stability is primarily the result of the actions of the Turkish military, recorded at the talks between Putin and Erdogan, and the result of cooperation within the Astana format or the Adana Accord, which Moscow brought up to avoid uncomfortable questions about Turkish influence in Syria.

Haben Sie das Gefühl, dass bei all den offenen Fragen die Menschen zu viel Hoffnung mit dem Impfstoff verbinden?
Das habe ich immer schon versucht zu transportieren: Wir müssen da sehr vorsichtig sein. Es wird mit hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit einen Impfstoff geben, aber wir wissen einfach noch nicht, was er leisten kann. Selbst wenn wir im Frühjahr vielleicht drei Impfstoffe haben, werden wir trotzdem nicht unmittelbar wieder im Stadion sitzen oder Karneval feiern können, das ist nicht realistisch. Es wird ein längerer Prozess sein. Die Impfstoffe werden uns hoffentlich helfen, dass wir das Virus wieder weit zurückdrängen können. Aber es wird nicht ganz verschwinden. Wir dürfen da nicht zu hohe Erwartungen haben. Es wird keinen unmittelbaren Heilsbringer geben und dann wird alles wieder gut. Da gibt es keinen Schalter, den wir umlegen, und plötzlich sind wir in unserer alten Normalität zurück. Aber wir werden sicher in eine neue Normalität finden.

The US Defense Department called on Turkey on Thursday to respect the ceasefire with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that the US brokered in the fall of 2019, after Turkey’s last incursion into northern Syria.
The Pentagon statement follows after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan twice over the past week, threatened the SDF with a cross-border attack, amid increasing artillery attacks on territory it controls.
