MESOPOTAMIA NEWS ANALYSIS BY DAN SCHUEFTAN (HAIFA)‘ – Operation Guardian of the Walls’: More than meets the eye
Hundreds of millions of Hamas dollars went down the drain during the Gaza conflict. The effects of this military campaign run deeper than you might think.
(May 25, 2021 / JNS) JEWISH NEWS SYNDICATE – The diplomatic campaign is in full swing and a comprehensive summary necessitates at least a decade of perspective, yet an interim summary indicates a significant improvement in Israel’s strategic situation following the conflict in Gaza, and its effects on the regional and international arena.
In order to judge the bigger picture, it is helpful to set out in headlines the main areas of the national-security balance. Each point deserves to be expanded on and explained in a separate discussion.
- Hamas was severely beaten. Its abilities have been impaired, some of them severely. An investment of hundreds of millions of dollars and a decade of efforts have all gone down the drain. The only surviving ability, rocket fire, was overwhelmingly neutralized by the Iron Dome.
- The main threat from Gaza—a notable contribution to a “northern” war with Iran and its emissaries—has been removed. Such a war would have harmed capabilities in the main arena, limiting damage to Hamas and reducing Israel’s capabilities to thwart its attacks.
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : Jewish Rabbis for Hamas !
- By Dr. Asaf Romirowsky – BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 2,051, May 26, 2021 – ISRAEL
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Ever since the 1960s, the Western academy has been churning out “scholar-activist-warriors” who carry the mantle of activism in lieu of scholarship. The result is generations of well-meaning yet ill-informed and brainwashed students, especially with regard to the Middle East. So warped are the perceptions of Western academics of both Israel and its enemies that even American Jewish rabbinical students are effectively shilling for an Islamist terror organization committed to killing Jews wherever they are.

MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : Turkey touts assassination of top PKK militant as retribution to US
The Turkish media has trumpeted the killing of a high-ranking PKK militant by Turkish security forces in northern Iraq as a reprisal of the US support of the Syrian Kurdish groups, while Turkey seems to be a major blockade before Syrian Kurds’ desire for political recognition.
Fehim Tastekin May 25, 2021 AL MONITOR – The US support for the Syrian Kurdish groups will likely remain a major problem between Ankara and Washington as the Syria leg of a high-level US delegation’s recent Middle East tour signals.
A US delegation that included Acting Assistant Secretary Joey Hood, Deputy Envoy for Syria David Brownstein and White House National Security Council Director for Iraq and Syria Zehra Bell traveled to northeast Syria on May 16-17, meeting officials from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Syrian Democratic Council, as well as prominent tribal leaders from the northeastern Syrian province of Raqqa. The visit seemed to be aimed at staving off the destabilizing elements in the region as the Biden administration is shaping its foreign policy moves in the Middle East.
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS OUTCRY : ‘Where’s my killer?’: Iraqis call for accountability in protesters’ deaths
Halgurd Sherwani – ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A new slogan has surfaced in the most recent wave of demonstrations in Iraq’s ongoing protest movement across several Iraqi provinces, including the capital on Tuesday, calling for the end of impunity for the killings of civil society activists and protestors.
Crowds held up signs showing the faces of dozens of fallen comrades, with the words, “Where’s my killer?,” sometimes translated as “Who killed me?”
Groups of protestors, many of them from southern Iraqi provinces, came together in central Baghdad’s Nisour Square on Tuesday to call attention to the government’s inability or unwillingness to rein in militias and affiliated political parties behind the abduction or targeted assassination of some 70 protesters in the past year and a half.
Since the demonstrations against poor public services, a low standard of living, and institutional corruption began in October 2019, hundreds of others have died as well at the hands of riot police and Iranian-backed militias of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF).
MESOPOTMIA NEWS : The Cognitive Campaign in Operation Guardian of the Walls: The Battle over the Narrative
Yoram Schweitzer, David Siman Tov, and Kobi Michael INSSS – ISRAEL
Over the 11 days of the recent military campaign in Gaza there was a second and no less important struggle – the cognitive battle. If at the outset of the campaign it seemed that Hamas had the upper hand in this battle, by the end it was clear that the terror organization’s cognitive achievement had dissipated. How can the message be conveyed repeatedly that a military venture against the IDF is not recommended, and what else can be done in this regard?
