We knew about the US-Danish spy collaboration. The revelations are still remarkable

THE FIRST CLAIMS OF an alleged secret collaboration between the signals intelligence agencies of the United States and Denmark surfaced in November of 2020. By January of this year, it was clear that the Danish government would, sooner or later, need to deal with the fallout of its controversial spy deal with Washington, under which Denmark enabled the US to spy on some of its closest European allies. Still, the news last weekend that Denmark helped the US spy on countries such as Germany, France, Sweden and Norway, is nothing short of remarkable, and has a huge symbolic significance that cannot be overlooked.

Overview
The following is a preliminary summary of the findings of the examination of the names of the Palestinians who were killed in IDF airstrikes in the Gaza Strip during the first two days (May 10-12, 2021 at 12:00) of Operation Guardian of the Walls. The ITIC examined 74 names of fatalities reported by Palestinian sources. Sixteen of them were killed during an unsuccessful launch of rockets at Israel. It is evident from the examination that of the 58 remaining fatalities, at least 42 (about two-thirds) were terrorist operatives, according to the following distribution: 31 Hamas operatives, 3 PIJ operatives, and 8 Fatah members.
- As in previous operations and this time even more, entities in the Gaza Strip (the Health Ministry and the terrorist organizations) hardly publicize the deaths of terrorist operatives. This, with the exception of senior operatives and officials, in which case the organizations they belong to published official death notices. The Hamas administration is trying to create a false impression that the vast majority of those killed were uninvolved civilians. In its announcements, the Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip emphasizes the number of women, children and seniors killed and, unlike in the past, it does not publish detailed lists that include the names of those killed. Many of the dead terrorist operatives are also presented on social media and by Arab media outlets as “civilians” for the same reason.

BasNews 2021/06/01 – 00:01 Kurdistan ERBIL – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has expressed strong concerns over the deforestation of Kurdistan Region border areas by Turkey.
Jotiar Adil, a spokesperson for the KRG, said in a statement: “The KRG has officially delivered its concern and urged the Turkish government to put an end to the deforestation in the border areas, which is not acceptable.”
Meanwhile, Adil also asserted that the presence of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Kurdistan Region’s border areas has given the Turkish army an excuse to cross the borders of the autonomous region.He called on the two sides to respect the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Ernsthaft und notfalls mit Waffen „zur Selbstverteidigung“.

Heute ist es Mode, die Aufklärung verdreht darzustellen. Dabei brauchen wir ihre Werte dringender denn je, um über den eigenen Stamm hinauszudenken. Von Susan Neiman
Diese Gelegenheit möchte ich nutzen, einiges über die Aufklärung zu sagen, das Fundament nicht nur meines Denkens, sondern des linkspolitischen Denkens überhaupt. Meine Beschäftigung mit der Aufklärung entstand nicht aus Lust, historische Forschungen zu betreiben, obwohl ich das auch getan habe. Als ich Kants Aufsatz „Was heisst es, sich im Denken orientieren?“ las, wurde mir klar: Die Aufklärung war aktueller als alles, was die Gegenwartsphilosophie zu bieten hat. Das betraf zunächst die Form. Die Aufklärer schrieben nicht für ihre Doktoranden – zumal die meisten keine hatten –, sondern für ein breites Publikum, in der Überzeugung, wie der große Aufklärer Jean Améry schrieb, „dass Kenntnis zur Erkenntnis führt und dieser zur Sittlichkeit“. Selbst Kant, der kein begnadeter Schriftsteller war, schrieb fünfzehn gut lesbare Aufsätze für die Berlinische Monatschrift. Orientierung im Denken wird heute noch dringender gebraucht.

Es gab Küsschen, Umarmungen und ein handfestes Ergebnis: Die Außenminister von Ankara und Athen haben ein Treffen ihrer Regierungschefs vereinbart. Die meisten Probleme bleiben aber weiter ungelöst.
Athen (dpa) – Der griechische Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis und der türkische Präsident Recep Tayyip Erdogan werden sich am Rande des Nato-Gipfels (14. Juni) in Brüssel treffen. Das ist das Ergebnis eines Besuchs des türkischen Außenministers Mevlüt Cavusoglu bei seinem Amtskollegen Nikos Dendias in Athen.
Die zerstrittenen Nachbarstaaten sind damit in ihren Annäherungsversuchen einen guten Schritt weitergekommen – nicht zuletzt, weil sich die beiden Minister sichtlich gut verstehen. So gab es zur Begrüßung Küsschen und Umarmung sowie einen Spaziergang durch Athen.

In a TV address on Sunday night, Bennett pitched his controversial decision to lead a new government in partnership with “my friend” opposition leader Yair Lapid. He explained that far from being a left-wing government, the new lineup would be weighted in favor of right-wing views and would, in fact, be a government of unity. The left-wing partners had made ideological concessions, he said, for the sake of a government that will not be against anyone but positive and unifying. To avoid a fifth election, all the partners had set aside their iews on some issues. The Yamina leader pledged that the new government would not abandon territory or separate it from {from sovereign Israel] and if a military operation was called for, it would go forward. According to Bennett, Netanyahu’s proposal for a three-way split of the premiership with himself and Gideon Saar had been rejected because no one trusted him to keep faith.
