Acht Jahre nachdem eine Allianz zwischen Yesh Atid-Führer Yair Lapid und Yamina-Führer Naftali Bennett geschmiedet wurde, bekommt diese Bruderschaft diesen in den Sitz des Premierministers.

Wenn alles nach Plan läuft, wird Yamina-Führer Naftali Bennett am 13. Juni als 13. Premierminister Israels vereidigt. Am nächsten Tag wird er mit den anderen Mitgliedern seiner Acht-Parteien-Koalitionsregierung ein traditionelles Foto mit dem Präsidenten machen. Bennett wird mehrere wichtige Präzedenzfälle schaffen. Zum ersten Mal in der israelischen Geschichte wird ein Politiker, dessen Partei nur 5 % der Stimmen erhielt (übersetzt in sechs Sitze in der 120-köpfigen Knesset), den jüdischen Staat führen. Es ist auch das erste Mal, dass einem yarmulketragenden Juden die Zügel an den souveränen jüdischen Staat übergeben werden.
Eine enorme Beweislast liegt auf Bennetts Schultern.

Muhana Ismael fürchtet um das Leben seiner drei Kinder. Die Familie floh vor zwei Jahren aus ihrem Heimatdorf Al Teh vor den Bomben syrischer und russischer Kampfjets, wie er erzählt. Sie strandeten in einem improvisierten Camp in der Nähe zur türkischen Grenze. Es ist ein tristes Leben ohne Arbeit, Geld und Perspektiven.
Der 47-jährige Familienvater und seine fünf Kinder können nur dank der Hilfslieferungen der Vereinten Nationen überleben. Die aber könnten bald versiegen. “Meine Kinder werden Hunger leiden”, sagt er. “Wir werden hier in der gesamten Region eine Hungersnot erleben.” Placeholder

Der scheidende Chef des israelischen Auslandsgeheimdienstes Yossi Cohen hat in einem Fernsehinterview noch einmal deutlicher als zuvor die Rolle Israels bei der Ermordung des iranischen Atomwissenschaftlers Mohsen Fakhrizadeh sowie bei der Explosion in der Urananreicherungsanlage in Natans bekräftigt. Im Juli vergangenen Jahres und im April dieses Jahres war es in Natans zu Sabotageakten gekommen. Auf die Frage, wohin Cohen seine Interviewpartnerin in Natans bringen würde, wenn möglich, antwortete der Mossad-Chef: „In den Keller, weil sich dort die Zentrifugen gedreht haben“. Heute, so Cohen, „sieht es (dort) nicht so aus wie es früher aussah“.

The debate over the origins of the coronavirus—did it come from a wet market in Wuhan or from the virology lab nearby—has exposed the bias of media and technology companies and the potential danger of so-called gain of function research. But it also has led to something of an intellectual cul-de-sac. Barring a high-level defection from the Chinese Communist Party, we are unlikely ever to learn the answer. And even if we did have conclusive evidence one way or another, we still would have to decide what to do about it. The real question isn’t whether the pandemic is China’s fault. It’s whether China will pay a price for the catastrophic damage it caused the world.

A GROUP OF COMPUTER hackers with close links to the Chinese state are allegedly behind a wide-scale attack on the global airline industry, which includes espionage, as well as financial motives, according to a new report. If confirmed, the attack would constitute a global campaign against a single industry that is unprecedented in size, according to experts. The most recent victim of this series of worldwide attacks is Air India, India’s government-owned flagship air carrier. In May of this year, the company was targeted by what officials described as “a highly sophisticated attack” that had begun over two months earlier. It was indeed in early February that the hackers had begun to collect information about Air India and trying to infiltrate its networks through a combination of methods, including spear-phishing. The resulting compromise affected the data of some 4.5 million of Air India’s passengers. Stolen information included passengers’ credit card details, as well as passport information, such as names and dates of birth. But in a new report issued on Thursday, the Singapore-based cybersecurity firm Group-IB said that the methodology used by the perpetrators of the Air India attack resembled those used to hack other airline carriers around the world. Other victims have included Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Finnair, as well as SITA, a Swiss-based provider of information technology services to airline operators in over 200 countries and territories around the world. What is more, the Group-IB report claims “with moderate confidence” that the attacks on the global airline industry are being perpetrated by APT41. Also known as BARIUM, APT41 is a highly prolific group of computer hackers that is widely believed to be connected with the Chinese government. Since first appearing on the scene in 2006, APT41 has amassed a list of victims that include firms from almost every imaginable industry, including manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation, healthcare and defense. Some of its strikes are clearly financially motivated and include ransomware attacks. Others are espionage-related and point to the information needs of a nation-state —allegedly China. In 2020, the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation added five members of APT41 to its “Most Wanted” list. The accompanying press statement accusing the five men of conducting “supply chain attacks to gain unauthorized access to networks throughout the world”, and attacking a host of companies on nearly every continent, including the Americas. ► Author: Joseph Fitsanakis | |

Die Debatte über die Ursprünge des Coronavirus – kam von einem nassen Markt in Wuhan oder aus dem nahegelegenen Virologielabor – hat die Voreingenommenheit von Medien- und Technologieunternehmen und die potenzielle Gefahr des sogenannten Gewinns der Funktionsforschung aufgedeckt. Aber es hat auch zu einer art intellektuellen Sackgasse geführt. Abgesehen von einem hochrangigen Austritt aus der Kommunistischen Partei Chinas werden wir die Antwort wahrscheinlich nie erfahren. Und selbst wenn wir auf die eine oder andere Weise schlüssige Beweise hätten, müssten wir trotzdem entscheiden, was wir dagegen tun wollen. Die wirkliche Frage ist nicht, ob die Pandemie Chinas Schuld ist. Es geht darum, ob China einen Preis für den katastrophalen Schaden zahlen wird, den es der Welt zugefügt hat.

The United States has spent $19 trillion on its military since the end of the Cold War. That is $16 trillion more than China spent and nearly as much as the rest of the world combined spent during the same period. Yet many experts think that the United States is about to lose a devastating war. In March, Admiral Philip Davidson, then the commander of U.S. forces in the Indo-Pacific, warned that within the next six years, China’s military will “overmatch” that of the United States and will “forcibly change the status quo” in East Asia. Back in 2019, a former Pentagon official claimed that the U.S. military routinely “gets its ass handed to it” in war games simulating combat with China. Meanwhile, many analysts and researchers have concluded that if China chose to conquer Taiwan, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) could cripple whatever U.S. forces tried to stand in its way.

Der Oberkommandierende des zentralen HPG-Hauptquartiers, Murat Karayılan, hat sich in einer Sondersendung beim kurdischen Fernsehsender Stêrk TV zur andauernden Invasion der Türkei in Südkurdistan geäußert. Laut Karayılan, der auch Mitglied im Exekutivkomitee der PKK ist, hat der türkische Präsident Recep Tayyip Erdoğan die kurdische Bewegung über Kontaktpersonen um einen Waffenstillstand innerhalb Nordkurdistans gebeten. Dass der Vater von Annalena Baerbock Personalchef in einem KFZ-Zulieferer namens wabco war, ist bekannt. Nur nicht, wie groß der Laden ist. Inzwischen zeigt sich, dass er sogar Geschäftsführer der Holding ist oder war. Da ist man recht schnell mit dem Jahresgehalt an oder über der Million. Ist ja auch nicht gerade ein kleines Häuschen, das sie da bewohnen. Sieht ja ziemlich riesig aus.
Tochter aus reichem Hause. Das Schema kommt uns bekannt von Grünen, Fridays for Future und Gender Studies vor.
Hatten die Grünen nicht neulich noch auf die Frage, wie Baerbock ihr teures Studium in London finanziert habe, behauptet, sie habe in den Semesterferien in der Fabrik gearbeitet?
Wer glaubt eigentlich, dass jemand, der so hoch in der Firmenhierarchie steht, und soviel Geld hat, sein Töchterchen in der Fabrik arbeiten lassen würde?
Also ich nicht. In diesen Gehaltsklassen ist so ein London-Studium eine Kleinigkeit. Nicht mal ein Monatsgehalt. Eher ein halbes. Oder Wochengehalt.
Es ist ja immer noch nicht klar, wie sie sich in London und an der FU Berlin immatrikulieren konnte, denn meines Erachtens erfüllt sie weder hier noch dort die Studienvoraussetzungen.
