MESOPOTAMIA NEWS Report: Targeted Iran nuclear facility known to Israeli, US intelligence
The New York Times reports facility allegedly targeted this week had appeared on a list of possible targets Israel presented to the administration of former US President Donald Trump in early 2020.
By Neta Bar and ILH Staff ISRAEL HAYOM – Published on 06-24-2021 08:11 – According to the report, the facility in Karaj City belonged to the Iran Centrifuge Technology Company, also known as TESA, which produces blades for uranium enrichment hubs. While reports noted the facility was damaged in the attack, no information was provided as to the extent of the damage.
The New York Times reported an Iranian official with knowledge of the matter as saying the drone was launched from within the country, near the facility. The report noted the Karaj City facility is one of the central sites where Iran carries out vital operations for the manufacturing of centrifuges.

The chief of staff to outgoing Iranian President Hassan Rouhani was quoted as saying that Washington had agreed to remove more than 1,000 sanctions imposed upon Iran by the previous US administration. Al-Monitor Staff June 23, 2021
An Iranian official said on Wednesday the United States plans to lift all sanctions on Iran’s oil and shipping industries and delist some members of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s inner circle as part of efforts to restore the landmark nuclear agreement.
“An agreement has been reached to remove all insurance, oil and shipping sanctions that were imposed by Trump,” said Mahmoud Vaezi, chief of staff to outgoing Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.

Mohammed Hardan AL MONITOR – June 23, 2021 – The Turkish-backed Syrian Council of Tribes and Clans has replaced four of its representatives at the National Coalition for Syrian Revolution and Opposition Forces (commonly known as the Syrian National Coalition). The request coincides with the upcoming internal elections of the Syrian National Council in July.
The council decided June 12 to replace Amer al-Bashir, Hakem al-Shayesh, Mohammed al-Saleh and Rami al-Dush with four new members, Faisal al-Sultan, Jihad al-Mar’i, Hamida al-Tahry and Ibrahim Ibrahim Basha.According to the Syrian National Coalition’s bylaws, any component of the coalition has the right to appoint or replace its own representatives within the coalition.

Marshall Billingslea, the Trump administration’s arms control envoy, argued in 2020 that the United States knew how to win arms races and “spend the adversary into oblivion.” It was a strange comment coming from a diplomat — especially one charged with reducing nuclear dangers — but it was revealing. Billingslea’s observation was meant to grab China’s attention and lay out the consequences for Beijing if it did not, as Washington hoped, participate in nuclear arms control talks with the United States and Russia.
While adopting a less strident tone, the Biden administration also sees Chinese participation in arms control as essential. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently stated that the Biden administration will “pursue arms control to reduce the dangers from China’s modern and growing nuclear arsenal.” Scholars and analysts have supported the administration’s arguments, claiming that Beijing should join future negotiations, as both its nuclear and conventional capabilities are on an upward trajectory.

Ihre Familienangehörigen führten Unternehmen in der Stahlindustrie, die vom Bau einer neuen Strecke profitierten. Im Laufe der Zeit, als die Beziehungen zwischen den Beamten und dem Geschäftsmann enger wurden, verdoppelten die Beamten ihre finanzielle Unterstützung für seine Unternehmungen, indem sie seine überhöhten Kosten in die Höhe schraubten und das Risiko von Verlusten ignorierten. Langsam aber sicher braut sich jedoch eine Finanzkrise zusammen.

It seemed like a typical story of Chinese corruption. Stuffing suitcases full of company shares, the businessman lavished bribes on influential officials in exchange for cheap loans to subsidize his railroad projects. The target of his largess, those in charge of public infrastructure and budgets, were his friends and business associates. Their family members ran firms in the steel industry, which stood to benefit from the construction of new track. Over time, as the ties between the officials and the businessman grew closer, the officials doubled their financial support for his ventures, indulging his inflated costs and ignoring the risk of losses. Slowly but surely, however, a financial crisis brewed.
Stories like this are endemic to China: business leaders colluding with officials to exploit development projects for personal enrichment, graft infecting all levels of government, and politicians encouraging capitalists to take on outsize risks.
