OBAMA’S DECISION : “Moderate Syrian opponents should be armed”
ANKARA – USAK 5.3.2013 – USA wants the moderate Syrian dissidents to be armed in order to bring an end to the conflicts in Syria that have been going on since March, 2011.The moderate Syrian opponents should be supplied with the arms, US Secretary of State John Kerry said during a joint press conference with Saudi Arabian Minister of Foreign Affairs Saud al-Faysal.
“Bashar al-Assad has to step down,” said Kerry “since he has been ruining his own country and people.” He said, “USA, together with its allies, will go on supporting the opponents to bring peace and increase pressure towards Assad. We should actively provide the moderate Syrian opponents with the arms.”
John Kerry continues his Europe and Middle East tour with Saudi Arabia. He came together with his counterpart Saud al-Faysal in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia. Two leaders talked about the bilateral relations between USA and Saudi Arabia. He later met with Salman bin Abd al-Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, and talked about regional and international issues including Iran, Syria, Palestine and terror problems. During the press conference with Saud al-Faysal, Kerry said he would meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss Israeli-Palestinian talks. He also reminded the planned visit of US President Barack Obama to Israel.
