Murat Karayilan meets Massoud Barzani in Erbil / NATIONAL ALLKURDISH CONFERENCE

KURDPRESS 1.6.2013 – The president of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani and the chief of Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) Leading Council Murat Karayilan met in Erbil, Yeniozgurpolitika, a daily affiliated with the outlawed party reported.

No information or photo of the meeting has been released, but the daily said the two Kurdish officials have discussed holding a political national conference in Erbil. Syria war, withdrawal of PKK militants from Turkey soil, dispute among Kurdish political parties and tensions with Turkey pro-Islamist Kurdish parties have been discussed in the meeting.

Meanwhile PKK Foreign Relations’ chief Ahmad Deniz told Rudaw that the meeting held a while ago and Karayilan stressed the fulfillment of PKK withdrawal is key for holding the Kurdish national conference. More development are to be decided and announced in the coming days, Deniz added. Dozens of PKK militants and members of Barzani- led Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) were killed in bilateral clashes between the two sides during the 90s. This is the first time a PKK high- profile official meets Barzani after the clashes.
