In a meeting in Qamişlo, the parties agreed to form a Kurdish Initiative that is going to launch a project on Syria’s democratization process.
Îlham Ehmed, co-chairwoman of TEV-DEM stated that there two important points for democratization:
1- A democratic, multi-party and central Syria
2- Creation of a new constitution for rights of minorities, Kurdish autonomy and democratic solution for the issues based on international human rights declarations.
Ehmed remarked that they have set an agenda and will try to work with all opposition parties in Syria.
“We are going to negotiate this project which is a proposal now and try to find a shared stance for all Syrian people. Than we are going to offer a democratic and objective solution to all parties so that every party can join us. This is open for all parties and aims a free Syria. We want the opposition to get united and turn their power into a transforming power in Syria. The opposition should play its historical role for all people. In order to establish a transforming power in Syria we suggest these points:
1- This is a proposal for all national opposition parties
2- A committee that will be able to represent all opposition parties in Syria should be formed so that this project can be implemented as soon as possible.
3- After the committee gathered all parties and ideas, this proposal will be re-written
4- A national congress should be organized and all opposition parties should be invited.
5- In that conference, a committe should be formed to represent all opposition in international environment
6- This project will be presented to UN, Arab Union and other related bodies.” said Îlham Ehmed.
