MESOP NEWS : BDP releases statement on Lice, Karliova resistance
ANF – Ankara 04.06.2014 – Peace and Democracy Party’s Amed Provincial Branch has issued a statement about the people resisting the building of new of military posts in Meskan, Silvan, Kanires (Karliova), Lice. In the statement the BDP says that the resistance are not only against the building of the posts but are also expressing outrage against the government’s taking no steps for progress in the peace process. BDP has said: “The public must be sure of that: this honorable resistance will spread to the whole Kurdistan unless there are any satisfactory steps taken by the state”.
Reminding that the manifesto-like solution declaration by the Kurdish Leader Abdullah Ocalan in the Newroz celebrations in 2013 was enthusiastically welcomed by people of Turkey and the world opinion, the BDP said “the AKP government has not yet undertaken its responsibility for the solution, peace and democratic reforms”. The BDP added that the AKP government, using the process for its own interests, delays taking the steps required and rather speeds up the construction of military posts, dams and roads for military use appearing to be a war preparation.
The BDP underlined that the government continues with its policy of war despite the fact that the Kurdish people have warned the government on many occasions for these policies, which are not helping the peace process.
“Our people have taken initiative to show their clear disapproval in Meskan, Silvan, Karines and Lice against the insistence of the government on these policies. It will be wrong and not sufficient to take this resistance of people only as being against the building of military posts. The protests in Meskan and Lice are also expressing outrage against the state policy. This outrage and reaction are limited at the moment, but the public opinion must be sure of that this honorable resistance will spread to the whole of Kurdistan unless there are any satisfactory steps taken by the state”, said BDP. The BDP has also stressed that deputy prime minister, Besir Atalay has to abandon the centuries old state discourse and mentality, which always puts the blame on the others, adding that he has to tell the public opinion whether there are any concrete steps taken by the government. The BDP underlined that the insistence in not releasing the sick prisoners proves the state’s mentality and added that the government must take its responsibility rather than accusing the others for provocation against the process.
