MESOP MIDEAST WATCH – PKK-Affiliated Groups Recruited 15 Children Lately in Rojava: Monitor

2-12-20221 ERBIL — At least 15 children from across Syrian Kurdistan have recently been recruited for armed conflicts by the groups affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a monitoring group said.

According to Afrin Organization Human Rights, at least seven young girls, all below 18, are among those recruited by the PKK-linked armed groups, and their fate remains unknown.

Local reports said families are not informed about the whereabouts of their children. However, the new teenage recruits are believed to have been moved to military training camps of the PKK where they will be prepared for armed conflict.

The recruited children, according to Afrin Organization, are identified as follows:

  • Dalav Abdo Hassan, 13, from Sherana village of Kobani (went missing on 26 November 2021).
  • Ahmed Sheikh Zedan Mustafa, from Zoghir village of Kobani (went missing on 22 November 2021).
  • Maryam Farid, 12, from Afrin but living in Kobani (went missing on 16 November 2021).
  • Muhammad Fayiq Hannan, 15, from Afrin’s Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood.
  • Kawa Brimo, from Aleppo (went missing on 19 August 2021).
  • Jwan Habashi, from Aleppo (went missing on 19 August 2021).
  • Abir Abdul Aziz, 16, from Derik (went missing on 2 November 2021.
  • Khatab Abid, 15, from Hilaliya neighborhood of Qamishlo (went missing on 24 November 2021).
  • Afrin Issa Mohammed Isa, from Alepo (went missing on 23 November 2021).
  • Ayana Idris Ibrahim, 15, from Qamishlo (went missing on 21 November 2021).
  • Hadiya Abdulrahman Antar, 16, from Qamishlo.
  • Avin Jalal Khalil, 15, from Qamishlo (went missing on 21 November 2021.
  • Silva Nidal Isa, from Shahba refugee camp (went missing on10 November 2021).
  • Hamid Ahmed Nafiz, 13, from Kibika village of Amuda (went missing on 17 July 2021).
