MESOP MIDEAST WATCH : BCF Ready to Deliver Aid to Kurdish Migrants on Belarus-Poland Border

ERBIL 10-11-2021 – The Kurdish Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) has showed readiness to deliver humanitarian assistance to the Kurdish migrants who are stranded on the border between Belarus and Poland.

The BCF said in a statement that, over the past few days, it has been making efforts to find a legal way to deliver the aid to the migrants who are trying to reach the European countries through Belarus.

The BCF further explained that it has sent official requests to the embassy of Belarus in Iraq, the Foreign Ministry of Poland, the representation of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi embassy in Poland, but that none of them is ready to allow any organizations to deliver aid to the migrants.

It also called on the international organizations to cooperate with the Kurdish charity foundation to reach the migrants and provide them with humanitarian assistance.

Thousands of people from Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are among the migrants stranded between Belarus and Poland, the majority of whom live in dire conditions.

The European Union says that the migrants will not be allowed to enter Poland and that they should return to their countries of origin, accusing Belarus of provoking the influx in retaliation against EU sanctions.
