MESOP : IRANIAN BLACK PROPAGANDA – Iran’s Khamenei blames enemies for Kurdistan’s Mahabad uprising

Ir-PRESS TV – 18 May 2015 – TEHRAN,— Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei says the enemy has failed in its attempts to create ethnic and religious discord in western Kurdistan region (Rojhelat).

The remarks were part of the Leader’s written statements read out at a congress commemorating Muslim Kurdish Peshmerga martyrs which was held Monday in the Kurdish city of Sne (Sanandaj), the capital of western Iranian Kurdistan province. In his statements, the Leader underlined that enemy conspiracies to cash in on “ethnicity” and “religion” to make the Kurdistan region insecure have been to no avail. On May 7 uprising of the people of Mahabad in protest to the death of Kurdish woman Farinaz Khosrawani, 25, who jumped off the fourth storey of the Tara Hotel, where she worked, when Iranian intelligence (Itilaat) officers attempted to rape her. In this uprising that continued in the pursuing days in Mahabad and other cities, hundreds of Kurdish youth were arrested and a number of them were injured.

Buildings are burning, protesters are bloodied, law enforcement vehicles are destroyed, hundreds of young men and women have been arrested and there is no end in sight. Iranian Kurdistan has been under what Iranian opposition called an “undeclared martial law” for the last week, and the Iranian regime has done all it can to keep it out of the media. Thousands of Iranian Kurds have been demonstrating in the streets of roughly a dozen Iranian cities almost consistently for the past week. Last Friday, protests turned violent as Iranian Kurdish political leaders called for an independent Kurdistan and democracy in Iran. It is one of the biggest Kurdish uprisings against the Iranian regime in years. Ayatollah Khamenei said in his comments that anti-revolutionary elements spared no effort to foment insecurity in Kurdistan in the early years following the 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran, but Muslim Kurds put their lives on the line to keep the enemy at bay.Khamenei also appreciated the sacrifices made by Muslim Peshmerga Kurds to counter the enemy. “The enemy will not sit idly by, and will, as much as it can, use the many security, propaganda and financial tools in its possession to bear animosity,” the Leader’s statements read.
