25 January 2013 /SEVGİ AKARÇEŞME, İSTANBUL – The sections related to Turkey in a Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) resolution adopted on Thursday in Strasbourg caused a reaction among Turkish deputies on the grounds that it was partial.
The report, titled “The state of media freedom in Europe,” proposed by rapporteur Mats Johansson, a Swedish Christian Democrat member of PACE, harshly criticized Turkey for the high number of journalists imprisoned, detained and prosecuted.
