Masked protesters attack kindergarten in Turkey’s southeast

3.11.2012 – Hurriyet – A group of people, reportedly staging a protest without permission in support for hunger strikers, attacked a kindergarten with Molotov cocktails in the southeastern province of Şırnak’s Cizre district today, Anatolian news agency has reported.

A fire broke out at the kindergarten, but firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene and extinguished the blaze. No one was injured in the incident as there were no students in the school at the time. Attackers, who hid their faces with masks, ran away, shouting slogans in support for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Police have launched an operation in the region to apprehend the attackers.
