Kurds should not vote for AKP, we are seeking democracy: Demirtas

31.12.2013 – Kurdpress – The co-leader of Turkey pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Selahattin Demirtas asked the country’s Kurds not to vote for the representatives of ruling justice and Development Party (AKP) and vote for the Kurdish parties instead if Kurds are seeking for democracy, NTVmsnbc news said.

Our only goal is to achieve democracy and the Kurds should back BDP if they are seeking for democracy, Demirtas told a gathering of his party in the Kurdish southeastern province of Siirt, stressing that voting for AKP representatives means welcoming graft and oppression. Amina Erdogan, wife of Turkey premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is from an Arab family in Siirt and the family and AKP are very popular in the city, the capital of the province.
