Kurds should demonstrate they can control own regions: PYD official
Syria Kurds should apply all their will and capability to demonstrate that they can control their own regions and do not need Damascus for solving all their Problems, the chief of Pro- Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) Foreign Relations, Zohat Kobani said.
“We will hold our local elections soon and the elections are due to be completely free and democratic. We have ratified all laws and Kurdish, Arabic and Seryani would be our official languages,” he was quoted by Ozgur Gundem as saying on Saturday. He further blamed those members of Kurds National Council (KNC) who joined Syria oppositions in Istanbul and claimed the decision will hurt Kurds. Kobani also lamented Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani for visiting Turkey southeastern Kurdish Province of Diyarbakir late last year and expressed his hope that Barzani would not “repeat his mistakes.”
