KRG is not an example for us/ Barzani should not help other parties against us: Salih Muslim

KURDPRESS – 19.5.2013– The co- leader of Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) said the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in the north of Iraq is not a model for the Syrian Kurds

and asked Kurdistan Region president Massoud Barzani who is brokering agreement among Syrian Kurdish parties not to extend his hand to help one party against another.

Speaking with Rudaw website during his recent diplomatic visit to London, Muslim said the Kurdistan Region autonomy is not a good model for us, adding that their situation is very different and a European Union model can be applied by the Kurds.

He denied his party is against a power- sharing accord with other Kurdish group. The PYD leader further blamed Ankara government for making troubles in relation between the Kurds and Free Syrian Army (FSA), an opposition body to Syria government.

Answering a question about his recent visits to several European countries, Muslim said: “We have to do something. Maybe the government does not accept to receive us. But we are knocking on every door to explain the demands of the Kurdish people.” Muslim further denied his party is against Barzani- brokered October 2011 Erbil agreement between Syrian Kurdish parties and welcomed any mediation efforts by Barzani but said his party does not want Barzani to extend his hand to help one party against another. “We don’t want anyone to be involved in internal relations, because we know what to do. We are able to solve our problems,” he went on to say. “We are very careful. We don’t want to draw any lines between the Kurds and Arabs, so we can have our rights within one Syria, not a divided Syria,” he added.
