Jalal Talabani replaced by 3 people who hate eachother / THE LAST DAYS OF PUK

January 31, 2014 – SULÊMANÎ, Kurdistan region ‘Iraq’,— Prior to its 4th congress, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) has replaced the ailing party leader and President of Iraq, Jalal Talabani, with a three-person council. The PUK has been trying to organise a party congress since its poor showing in the last general elections in Iraqi Kurdistan.

It is reported that the PUK’s political bureau reached agreement at a meeting on January 30, to replace Mr Talabani with a three-person council consisting of PUK Deputy Secretary General Kosrat Rasul, Second Deputy Secretary General Barham Salih and Talabani’s wife, Hêro Ibrahim Ahmed (Talabani). The three members of the Political Bureau of the supreme center can make decision within the PUK and can use the authority of the Secretary-General of the PUK. The political bureau is expected to discuss Friday whether the 4th congress of the party will take place, as planned.
