ECHR expected to announce decision about Öcalan

ANF – ISTANBUL 17.12.2013 – Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s lawyer Rezan Sarıca said that the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) is expected to resolve the application Öcalan had made with the demand of “sentence reduction” in the coming days.

Reminding of the former applications, Lawyer Sarıca said “We had four cases in ECHR. The first one was an application made against legal arrangements on 1 June 2005. The second one was an objection against aggravated life imprisonment and isolation in İmralı, and the third denouncing a poisoning attempt against Mr. Öcalan’s right to life.” Noting that the ECHR decided to join the four applications within a case, Sarıca emphasized that the court should have released its decision a long time ago.
