Damascus sets deadline for bringing Kurdistan flags down

30.9.2012 – Amada, Syria- Damascus set Thursday October 4 as a deadline for Kurdish parties in the Kurdish regions of Syria to bring Kurdistan flags down over schools and government offices.

Syria Education Ministry said in a statement that the Kurdistan flags should be dragged down and educating in Kurdish has to be halted. Kurdistan flags were raised over all government offices and schools in Syrian Kurdish cities after the Syria troops evacuated the cities for the Kurdish parties. Teaching in Kurdish language was also started in the schools. The Kurdish groups also replaced the pictures of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad with portraits of Kurdish leaders. Despite Kurdish groups grip on the cities, Syrian forces have not left their bases out of them.
