WEST KURDISTAN (SYRIA) : 3 ISIL Camps Destroyed in Northern Iraq
2014-03-25 08:06 GMT – MESOP – Iraqi army forces have destroyed three camps belonging to the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) and Al-Qaeda in northern Iraq. Five rebels were also killed in the operation, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said in a Monday statement. According to the ministry, four gun-mounted vehicles were destroyed and a cache of weapons seized in northern Iraq’s Al-Jazeera district. Iraqi government troops have been pursuing ISIL rebels since last December, when the militant group seized control of parts of the western Anbar province.

On March 11th, Berkin Elvan, a 15-year-old teenager who had had been in coma since he was hit in the head with a gas canister during the Gezi protests passed away. Berkin’s death sparked a massive round of Gezi-like demonstrations in which 2 million people took to the streets to protest the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government.
