Four Syrian-Kurdish parties merge to establish new party
08.04.2014 – Taha Hussain – BasNews, Erbil – Four Kurdish political parties in Syrian Kurdistan have merged to form a new party called Kurdistan Democratic Party in Syria.BasNews has been informed that all four parties oppose the Syrian regime and that Syrian Kurdish citizens have called on the party to improve its activities within the country. BasNews has learned that the final decisions have been made for the new party and that 51 members have been chosen for the party’s leadership council. The four parties consist of both wings of the Kurdish Freedom Party, Al-Party and the Kurdistan Union Party.
Assad supporters organize demonstrations in Qamishli amid Kurdish critique
“Fares Salman, an opposition activist based in Qamishli, told ARA News that the pro-regime marches phenomenon in Qamishil city “is a result of the monopoly of power by the Democratic Union Party (PYD) which deprived other Kurdish factions the right to demonstrate against the regime, while its forces (Assayish and YPG) remain silent regarding any pro-Assad demonstrations in the area”.
