ARA News – 20.5.2014 -Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan – Local activists in the city of Tirpesipiye in northeastern Syria accused the Assayish forces (the security wing of the Democratic Union Party PYD) of causing the death of an embryo after torturing its mother, Mihvana, who was arrested with her husband, Bashir Abdul-Majid Musa, member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDPS), at the Assayish detention center in the city.

 Justice triumphs when guilty war criminals are not confronted with punishment – in other words: forward with Bashar al Assad (MESOP)

Calling for justice is good in itself, as is the documenting of all the war crimes that have been committed. This has to be done, of course, but not over and above efforts to proactively work towards finding a solution and preventing the further bloodshed that will undoubtedly continue if no serious negotiations are facilitated among Syria’s various clashing factions. The call for justice needs to be a part of wider efforts to create peace, focusing on Syria moving forward, rather than merely focusing on the punishment of those that are guilty for the crimes against the Syrian people committed in the recent past. A solution must be found before justice can be done. It cannot be the other way around.

PYD AS A USEFUL TOOL IN THE GAME

The PYD has been very helpful for the Syrian intelligence service given that the PKK position as the dominant political party among the poorer classes and the lower middle class in Kurdistan, in other words those classes that could have been a danger for the state. Thus the PKK spared us a confrontation.

KURDWATCH, May 18, 2014—Mahmud an‑Nasir (known as Abu Haris), b. 1962, married, six children, was employed by the General Security Directorate [also known as State Security]. He was responsible for the departments in office no. 330. In the eighties and nineties, he participated in several security training courses in allied countries. He worked in Raʾs al‑ʿAyn in the State Security’s Office for Parties no.  30, then in the data department until he broke with the regime in November 2011.

Er war für die Abteilungen des Büros Nr. 330 zuständig. In den achtziger und neunziger Jahren durchlief er im befreundeten Ausland mehrere Sicherheitsschulungen. Teachers in Iraqi Kurdistan on strike for delay in receiving salaries

May 19, 2014 – SLÊMANÎ, Kurdistan region ‘Iraq’,— Teachers and the staff of the Directorate of Education in Slêmanî [Sulaimaniyah] province in Kurdistan Region announced on Monday, official strike in protest at the delay in the payment of their salaries for April and not setting a date for payment. One of the protesting teachers, Narin Othman said that “the strike was due to delayed payment of salaries of staff and education staff for April”.

Border crossing issues Rojava Basur

19.5.2014 – Director General of Rojava Samelka border crossing Saemalka Mustafa Abdel Aziz holds KDP controlled Fish Khabour border crossing responsible for closing Rojava-KRG border, while Shawkat Berbihari blames the PYD for closing the border crossing. Abdel Aziz described sending a boat from the KDP side was a provocation.
