MESOP DOCUMENT: WEST KURDISTAN (SYRIA) – “Welcome diversity 6 Plurality”
The Syrian crisis deepened amid blind violence exceeding all limits, in a way pushing the country towards the unknown in the absence of any objective and serious solutions. It is essentially beyond being just a crisis of the regime or the rule or authority, and has moved towards being a comprehensive structural crisis that stems from the unilateral nationalist approach based on the concept of the nation state, which contains within it the seeds of denial and domination and chauvinism which has ruled Syria for almost half a century.

„THE HONEYMOON BETWEEN PYD & ASSAD IS OVER“ (Boje Vindheim Parlamentarier Norwegen)
Guy Debord

Wladimir van Wilgenburg – Global Conflict Tracker – 23.5.2014
Kurdish areas of Turkey and the greater Middle East could experience increased violence in the coming months. In Turkey, peace talks between the government and the militant Kurdish Worker’s Party (PKK) have stalled since a ceasefire was agreed in March 2013. PKK members are refusing to withdraw from Turkey to Kurdish Iraq, where Kurds have a semiautonomous state in the northern part of the country.
How the Kurds Got Their Way / Economic Cooperation & the Middle East’s New Borders (FOREIGN AFFAIRS)
By Marina Ottaway & David Ottaway – From our May/June 2014 Issue
Foreign Affairs – The surge of ethnic and sectarian strife in Syria and across the Middle East has led a number of analysts to predict the coming breakup of many Arab states. This potential upending of the region’s territorial order has come to be known as “the end of Sykes-Picot,” a reference to the secret 1916 Anglo-French agreement to divide up the Middle Eastern provinces of the Ottoman Empire into British and French zones of control.
TODAY’S MESOP SYRIA FLASH : THE REGIME ITSELF IS TOXIC
23-5-2014 – Reuters on Thursday flatly assessed that “Syria has made no progress in relinquishing a last batch of chemical weapons [CWs],” noting that the Bashar al-Assad regime is using claims of nearby fighting to excuse the “increasingly likely” scenario under which it would fail to meet a final deadline set for it to dismantle its CWs. weiterlesen / click to continue
