On the dark night of December 9, 2013, masked gunmen stormed the Violations Documentation Center in Douma and kidnapped four of its members: Razan Zeitouneh, Samira Khalil, Wael Hamadeh and Nazem Hammadi. Although it happened in an area controlled by opposition militias, the incident was a stark reminder of the regime’s tactics.
The four kidnapped activists were prominent proponents of the Syrian uprising from its early days, and their work on documenting the human rights violations exacted on Syrians was widely acknowledged. Their kidnapping exposed the fractious nature of an uprising under assault from all sides. To many, this was a clear sign of the uprising’s need to exorcise its own demons. Today, Tuesday May 27, 2014, Syrian grassroots activists, journalists, intellectuals and the families of the detained, as well as national and international human rights and media organizations come together to launch a concerted campaign to free the #Douma4.
Obama “Close to” Ordering Military to Train Syrian Rebels
by Keith Koffler on May 27, 2014, –After a policy based on trying to somehow negotiate with Syrian President Bashar Assad failed to prevent 160,000 deaths and the establishment of a new terrorist breeding ground, President Obama is on the cusp of ordering the military to begin training any “good guys” we can find among the Syrian rebels.
From the Wall Street Journal:President Barack Obama is close to authorizing a mission led by the U.S. military to train moderate Syrian rebels to fight the regime of Bashar al-Assad and al Qaeda-linked groups, a move that would expand Washington’s role in the conflict, U.S. officials said.

27.5.2014 – Al-Hasaka- The people´s protection units (YPG) defend themselves against an attack on the fire brigade in the city Al- Hasaka by regime troops, after they have freed the fire brigade. The troops of the Army National Guard (“the masked man”) who belong to the Baath regime attacked the fire station of the city of Al-Hasaka. Thereupon the people´s protection units (YPG) defended themselves and there were heavy fighting’s with use of massive munitions. Several military vehicles were destroyed before the regime troops withdrew.
