YPG statement on Efrin clashes

ANF  – Efrin 01.11.2013 – The more than month long assault on Efrin carried out by the Islamic State or Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and its allies is being organized by Saudi and Turkish intelligence, says a report in Özgür Gündem. The assault, according to a statement from the YPG, was first planned at a meeting a Riyadh and later finalized at a meeting of ISIS leaders and members of Turkish and Saudi intelligence in Azzaz. Brussels, 1 November 2013- ICG –  There is more than one paradox. Even as chemical weapons inspectors enjoy unhindered access to some of the country’s most sensitive locations, UN humanitarian aid cannot reach civilians in besieged areas. This is true even only a few miles from the international organisation’s offices in Damascus, where the regime deliberately and systematically starves people in a new tactic of modern war. Regime troops that are holding on to pockets of territory in remote parts of the country suffer a similar fate at rebel hands.

TODAY’S MESOP’S SYRIA INSIGHT / THE ISRAELI ATTACK

Israeli aircraft struck a military basenear Syria’s port city of Latakia overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, according to U.S. officials. There have be no official statements from Syria or Israel, however an explosion was reported at a missile storage site in the area. The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rightssaid, “Several explosions were heard in an air defense base in the Snubar Jableh area.” According to a U.S. official,  Israel targeted  Russian-made missiles that were to be transferred to Hezbollah. While Israel does not comment on military operations, it has been accused of several strikes on Syrian territory this year.
