MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : NOT SO MUCH NEW NEWS FROM ISRAEL – Bennet presents new government & agenda: Netanyahu knocks them down
Jun 13, 2021 @ 18:59 DEBKA FILES ISRAEL – In a stormy Knesset session, prime minister-designate Naftali Bennett, after lauding Binyamin Netanyahu’s impressive 12-year contribution to the nation, devoted his Knesset speech on Sunday, June 13, to “the passing of the torch to the next generation.” He persisted in the presentation of Israel’s 36th government and its agenda in the face of frequent, orchestrated heckling, retorting only that the strident clamor rising from the chamber represented a government that had lost control and lost its ability to rule.

BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 2,070, June 11, 2021 / ISRAEL
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Bilateral relations between Turkey and Israel have existed on various levels for many years. Today, relations between the states hinge primarily on trade, as mutual distrust prevents any meaningful progress despite periodic attempts at an easing of tensions. But the Guardian of the Walls operation proved once again that anti-Israeli sentiments exist not only in Turkey’s Nationalist/Islamist/Leftist circles but in Kemalist/secularist circles as well. The extent of anti-Israelism in Ankara is so extreme as to be difficult if not impossible to bridge. Israel should expect no change in this sentiment, not even during the first stages of a post-Erdoğan era.

Laurie Mylroie 11. June 2021 – WASHINGTON DC (Kurdistan 24) – The Pentagon and State Department have both articulated their latest stance regarding the presence of the S-400 in Turkey: it is unacceptable.
The reiteration of that position on Wednesday and Thursday (also held by the previous administration) comes in advance of Monday’s meeting between US President Joe Biden and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Brussels.
Washington tried to resolve the S-400 dispute last month, and Ankara has made statements suggesting the two parties have done so.

MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : ISLAMIC-MAFIOTIC TURKEY – Is Turkey run by gangsters?
Prof Ryan Gingeras – WAR ON THE ROCKS
- Ahval Jun 07 2021 11:13 Gmt+3 – Last Updated On: Jun 08 2021 – The video confessions of an exiled Turkish mafia boss and the furore they have excited are signs that mafia politics have returned to Turkey, Dr. Ryan Gingeras wrote in an article for War on the Rocks on Monday.
According to Gingeras, an expert on Turkey’s history and relationships with organised crime, the controversies launched by mobster Sedat Peker and his accusations against Turkish officials should be no surprise, even as they constitute “an absurd series of events” that make warnings on the awakening of dormant mafia structures “appear prophetic”.
The influence of the mafia on Turkish politics goes at least as far back as the 1970s, Gingeras said, and Peker has been involved in much of this history.
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : BIDEN OR PUTIN ? THAT’S THE QUESTION NOW! – Is Turkey’s decision to send back Russian missile technicians political?
- Jun 07 2021 02:25 Gmt+3 AHVAL NEWS – The Russian technicians who trained Turkish personnel in using the S-400 missile system are returning home, but the question is whether the decision is technical or political, the National Interest said on Sunday.
“It is completely wrong and incorrect to interpret this as some sort of expulsion or something else,” Kremlin Spokesman Dimitry Peskov said, rejecting media reports that the move was a diplomatic goodwill gesture made by Turkey to the United States. Washington and Ankara are at diplomatic loggerheads over the latter’s acquisition of the system from Russia in 2019.
Last week, Bloomberg said Turkey sending the technicians back to Russia was a signal of its willingness to compromise ahead of a meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the sidelines of a NATO summit in Brussels on June 14.
