The rise of Naftali Bennett suggests religious Zionism is no longer a priority

On the night of 15 April, the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, in events reported by the New York Times correspondent Patrick Kingsley, a squad of Israeli police officers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem, brushed the attendants aside and proceeded to cut the cables to the loudspeakers that broadcast prayers to the faithful. Israeli president Reuven Rivlin was delivering a speech at the Western Wall, lying just below the mosque, and officials worried that the prayers would drown it out.
The act, shocking and brazen even in this bare description, set in motion the series of events culminating in widespread riots inside Israel and a recurrence of the armed conflict with Hamas in Gaza. Disconnecting the loudspeakers was a way to show who the real rulers are, not only in Jerusalem but in the Temple Mount itself. By making it clear that Jewish voices should take precedence, it was a way to put Muslims and Arabs in their proper place.
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS FORECAST : Netanyahu: ‘If a gov’t is formed, God forbid, we will topple it very quickly’
Israel’s emerging coalition is the “biggest election deceit in Israeli history,” says Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
BY YEHUDA SHLEZINGER
(June 6, 2021 / Israel Hayom) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday called on Knesset lawmakers from all parties to “vote their conscience” if the so-called change coalition presents a new government to the Knesset this week.
Netanyahu, who spoke at the Likud faction meeting at the Knesset, said that the right-wing parties Yamina and New Hope were essentially disenfranchising voters by partnering with the opposition parties on the Left in an effort to end his term through what they have called a unity government.
“We are witnessing an election deceit the likes of which has never happened,” he warned.

MESOPOTAMIA NEWS COLUMN : A RELIGIOUS RIGHTWINGER FROM ELITIST SAYERET MATKAL TO HIGH TECH – What can a skeptical world expect from Naftali Bennett? – Von Jonathan S. TOBIN
The future of the “government of change” is still in doubt, and its prospects are dubious. But despite the political attacks, the prospective new prime minister has a lot to offer.
(June 3, 2021 / JNS) JEWISH NEWS SYNDICATE – This isn’t the way he planned on becoming prime minister of Israel. When Naftali Bennett left the world of high-tech to enter Israeli politics, the idea that he might achieve the top spot by pushing aside Benjamin Netanyahu would have been inconceivable to him. And even later on, as he led a party to the right of Likud, he regarded it as an ally of the premier, not an opponent—let alone the engine of his political demise. Any notion of him succeeding Netanyahu was a scenario that smart political observers believed was something that could only occur after Netanyahu had retired and also involved Bennett rejoining the Likud.

With a new Israeli government, the U.S. president has an opening on Iran and a rare chance to rebuild frayed ties with an ally. But he can’t count on it to last.

For the first time in more than a decade, it looks as though Benjamin Netanyahu will soon be out of power in Israel. What many assumed would play to the longtime prime minister’s advantage and scuttle efforts to replace him — the recent mini-war with Hamas — has instead led to one of the most surprising turns in Israeli politics in years.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: A presidential election will take place in Iran on June 18, and it is rumored that Ali Khamenei prefers one candidate above the others: Chief Justice Ebrahim Raisi. While Raisi has never belonged to the IRGC, his election would nevertheless represent a victory for the hardliners. Despite his lack of religious credentials, Raisi is also considered a serious contender to succeed Khamenei as Supreme Leader.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is the main economic, intelligence, and military power in Iran. While also very strong politically, the Corps has yet to assume full power in the political sphere.
MESOPOTAMIA NEW “THE PLAIN TRUTH!” – Fehim Taştekin: ‘It is impossible even for a single leaf to stir without the approval of Erdoğan’
Investigative journalist Fehim Taştekin states that Sedat Peker’s revelations are merely the tip of the iceberg with regard to the role of the Turkish political elites in illegally weaponising the insurgents in Syria. 3. June 2021 you tube
Sedat Peker, a mob moss on the run from the Turkish mafia and political leaders, has the country on the edge of its seat with every accusation he makes about his former ‘partners’ at the top of political and economic power in Turkey.
Speaking from Dubai on his YouTube channel, each of his videos gets millions of views. In his eighth video, Peker painted a detailed picture of the alleged co-operation between Turkish officials and al-Nusra. He claimed that Turkey sent weapons to al-Nusra in Syria through SADAT, a controversial company formed by Erdoğan’s former adviser, often dubbed “Erdoğan’s parallel army”.
Investigative journalist Fehim Taştekin told MA that SADAT only plays a “small part” of Turkey’s illegal businesses of trading arms and people to Syria.
“The SADAT company he mentioned is only a part of this process. For instance, in 2014, when Turkey’s MIT [National Intelligence Agency] trucks were caught, we saw how large the real extent of this process is”, he said.
MESOPOTAMIA NEWS SENSATIONAL ! : Biden’s Use of the G-Word Furthers Turkey’s Isolation
- By Burak Bekdil – June 1, 2021 – BESA CENTER ISRAEL – Genocide Memorial complex in Yerevan, Armenia, image by Aleksey Chalabyan via Wikipedia – BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 2,060,
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: President Joe Biden’s use of the word “genocide” on Armenian Remembrance Day was not a game-changer in US-Turkish relations, which are plagued by more fundamental problems. But it enhances Turkey’s political isolation, weakens its arguments on whether a genocide did or did not occur in 1915-24, and further destabilizes whatever is left of Ankara’s soft power.

MESOPOTAMIA NEWS : HOW DONALD TRUMP FINANCED KURDISH PKK IN SYRIA / BIDEN NOT !
THE INSIDE STORY OF HOW TRUMP ‘KEPT THE OIL’ IN SYRIA AND LOST
by Kenneth R. Rosen – Daily Beast – May 31, 2021
The ambitious plan would have seen Delta Crescent, a tiny Delaware company, try to bring peace and stability to the war-ravaged northeast, but local corruption, a lack of U.S. commitment, and other complications doomed the idea.
When former President Donald Trump said U.S. troops would remain in Syria to “keep the oil” at the end of 2019, the Pentagon scrambled to deny it. American forces only stayed in Syria to comprehensively defeat ISIS, a spokesman explained; any military presence around the oil fields was purely part of the mission to overcome the so-called Islamic State.
Two years later, the remnants of ISIS are diminished, but American troops are still on the ground, still helping to protect that oil. The official stance of the White House, the State Department and the Global Coalition to Defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria was then—and remains now—that keeping the oil is not the reason American men and women are still stationed in one of the world’s most treacherous conflicts. U.S. forces and the coalition more broadly “does not provide assistance to any private companies, employees or agents in seeking to develop oil resources [in] NE Syria,” a spokesperson said in March.
But that is not the full story.
