Barzani calls Turkey to cooperate with Kurdistan in energy field

 18 December 2013 – Shafaq-News –  Nechivan Barzani discussed on Tuesday, with Turkey’s Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan to strengthen mutual cooperation in energy fieldbetween the two sides.

Barzani had traveled to Turkey in response to an official invitation from Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan to participate in the annual festival of Mawlana al-Rumi.The statement issued by the Presidency of the region received by “Shafaq News “ quoted Barzani as saying “the importance of relations between Kurdistan Region and Turkey in the political, economic , trade and energy fields.”Barzani called on Turkey to “commit to coordination and cooperation in the energy sector between the two parties .”

The statement added that the two sides discussed during the meeting, which was attended by Turkish Foreign Minister , Ahmet Davutoglu , Minister of Natural Resources in KRG , Ashti Hawrami and the Regional government spokesman, Saven Dazia discussed the current situation in the region in general , the latest developments on the Syrian arena in particular and its repercussions on the countries neighbors , particularly Turkey and Iraq .The statement added that the two sides addressed the security and political situation , the political process in Iraq and relations between Erbil and Baghdad . It is worth mentioning that formal and a popular ceremony takes place in Turkish Konya city annually from 7th of December until 17th of it to commemorate the death of the poet and mystic Jalal al-Deen al-Rumi , called as ” Mawlana ” in which today marks the 740anniversary of his death and his Sufism poems and writings in his mother tongue Persian have left broad impact in the Muslim world , especially on the Farsi , Urdu, Bengali and Turkish cultures. http://www.shafaaq.com/en/politics/8262-barzani-calls-turkey-to-cooperate-with-kurdistan-in-energy-field-.html
