Appeal to all Kurdistani people and humanitarian organisations to support people of the Syrian Kurdish region
Kurdish Red Cross+ Crescent in the UK
Dear friends, We would like to invite you to launch an urgent appeal to support the people affected in the Syrian Kurdish region bythe deteriorating humanitarian crisis. Therefore we are calling and appealing to you all to actively join us and contribute the best way you can.
The campaign would be launched on Sunday 3 February at 2 pm in KCC : Fairfax Hall, 11 Portland Gardens, London, N4 1HU.
Appeal to all kurdistani people and humanitarian organisations to support the Syrian Kurdish region.
Today the Syrian people in general, and Kurds in particular, are going through a violent proxy war. The Syrian Kurdish region is suffering most severely due to an imposed double blockade of both the brutal Assad regime and the armed opposition. People in the Kurdish regions are suffering through becoming isolated in a crippling siege, which is threatening to become a severe humanitarian disaster. Hard winter conditions are made worse by a shortage of food, medicine, fuel for heating, transport and electrical generators essential for the operation of hospitals and medical centres. This situation is threatening people’s lives due to the spread of disease and lack of medical aids. Despite this the Kurdish regions have been excluded from international humanitarian aid, even though they have hosted hundreds of thousands of refugees and displaced people from all the towns and cities affected by the Syrian war.
Selafist armed mercenaries affiliated to terrorist groups, Turkey and others regional powers committed the recent brutal attack targeting civilians in Sere Kaniye (Ras al Ain) on 16 January 2013. They aimed at destabilising the relatively peaceful Kurdish region and dragging them into a violent civil war, making the Kurdish region a violent proxy war zone. To add to the horror they targeted civilians killing them indiscriminately and raising their homes to the ground with shelling, any that were left were looted and thousands have been forcibly displaced attempting to escape the atrocities.
We are the Kurdish Red Cross+Crescent, a humanitarian relief organisation established in the Syrian Kurdish region to support people in need. We earnestly call all Kurdistanipeople, regional and global humanitarian relief organisations, the EU, the UN, members of the public and the international community to support the Kurdish region and its people. We call on you to fulfil your duties and responsibilities in stopping the humanitarian crisis in the region deteriorating further.
Looking forward to your support and contributions,
