If you ask Syrians about Germany 99% of Syrians will only tell you good things about Germany. Farmers might show you their stone-age tractors of German origin, barbers will show you their hair-cutting machines “Made in Germany”, some Proferssors will tell you about their nice experiences while studying in Germany. Not only the normal guys will be crazy about German quality or origin. Your local Mukhabarat* branch will also show you an efficient machine brought to them by likely either the Nazi Alois Brunner who took refugee in Syria, got welcomed warmly or by German Democratic Republic-functionaries that also helped to develop the Syrian Intelligence Services, one of the most effective in the arab world.
Mukhbaratis might tell you about the German chair. An installation working like a chair with folding elements with what the back can be overstreched and the spine be broken.
