Al-Qaeda-affiliated ISIL Kidnaps 11 Kurds

ARA News – 22-1-2014 – Kobane, Syria− On Monday, the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) captured 11 Kurdish civilians from the city of Kobane, north Syria, while they were leaving the city of al-Tabqa in the countryside of Raqqa on their way to the city of Tartus. The detainees were taken to an unknown destination.

Haj Mohammed, 73, who was kidnapped and then released for his old age told ARA News that members of ISIL stopped their vehicle in the city of al-Tabqa while they were heading to the western Syrian city of Tartus.

“The ISIL captured the Kurdish passengers after recognizing them being Kurds by their IDs (on basis of names and their Kurdish hometown of Kobane). Three women and two children were amongst the arrested”, Haj Mohammed said.
