AGREEMENT BETWEEN IRAQI GOVERNMENT & PESHMERGA

Ninanews – 31.1.2013 – ERBIL-Hewlêr, Kurdistan region ‘Iraq’:  Peshmerga Ministry in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced that the High Joint Committee between the province and the federal government succeeded in reaching a solution on the disputed areas, the National Iraqi News Agency reported.

Helgurd Hikmet, the Media Manager in the ministry said in a press statement that “The committee decided to continue to hold a regular weekly or monthly meetings “. He added: “The future meetings will focus on the agreement on the location of joint security stations, and the withdrawal of additional troops from the area and determine the border points.” Kurdistan Ministry of Peshmerga demanded the Ministry of Defense to cancel the decisions of transferring the Kurdish officers and stop military movements, pointing at the same time to the lack of agreement on locating joint    security stations and additional troop’s withdrawal mechanism form both sides of the disputed areas. The Supreme Labor Committee hold last Sunday, a regular meeting in the capital Baghdad, to discuss the security file between Baghdad and Erbil.
