Imad Bilal – 2 April 2017 – BasNews – SULAYMANIYAH — The Change Movement (Gorran) has expressed support for a move to hold an independence referendum in Kurdistan Region, saying statehood is a natural right for Kurds.
Following a session on Saturday, Gorran’s National Assembly said in a press release the party backs actual and practical efforts towards independence which are being made through legitimate institutes of Kurdistan Region and the parliament. The press release reminds of a previous agreement between Gorran and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), in which both sides emphasize on Kurdistan independence and a multilateral effort to make it happen.Kurdistan independence is a national issue reflecting on the prime interests of people, and it will be decided on in the Kurdistan Region parliament. www.mesop.de
