PKK not needed in Mosul operation, Peshmerga would enter city: commander tells Kurdpress

10 Oct 2016 – Kurdpress – The commander of the Kurdish forces of Peshmerga in Khazer axis, northern Iraq, stated that all Iraqi forces will participate in the operation to liberate the northern city of Mosul from Islamic State (Daesh) control but Peshmerga forces would not enter the city, adding that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters are not needed in the upcoming operation.

Also a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) political office, Aref Tayfor told Kurdpress that facilities have been prepared and placed have been dedicated to those refugees who are supposed to flee Kurdistan Region from Mosul. He also believes that the Shiite fighters of Hashid al-Shaabi are not needed in the liberating operation, stressing that Kurdistan Region is not against the participation of the forces but it is an issue that the Iraqi army and the coalition forces should decide about.
