MESOP : Kurds Push ISIS Back in Kobani
16-10-2014 – Kurdish forces and intensified U.S.-led air strikes have successfully pushed back ISIS advances (BBC) in the Turkish-Syrian border town of Kobani, according to Kurdish officials. While Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu said that Turkey will not allow its citizens to cross into Syria to defend Kobani, Turkey has outlined locations for potential humanitarian safe zones (Hurriyet) along its border with Syria. – Turkey seems unlikely to commit itself to becoming a more active member of the anti-ISIS coalition, writes CFR’s Steven Cook.
