MESOP FACING KOBANE IN LATEST HOURS : Street-to-street war begins in Kobani, 12 YPG forces killed

Some 12 member of pro-Kurdish People Defense Units (YPG) were killed in clashes with the militants of the Islamic State (IS) as street-to-street war begins in the Syrian northern city.A journalist from the city Zara Mustu told Kurdpress yesterday that the IS jihadists have seized control of the strategic mountain of Mustinur and are advancing on eastern and southern parts of the city, but noted more than 50 members of the radical group have been killed in clashes with Kurdish forces.

Local sources told Kurdpress that YPG forces have launched a home-to-home search in the city and have asked people remained in Kobani to leave the city in less than an hour and the families, more than 700 persons, have left the city to Turkey.

Another Kurdish journalist from Kobani, Mustafa Bali, said he and another 20 people from Kobani have been arrested by Turkish security forces. He said Turkish forces have arrested them for accused membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) that has been at war with Turkey for more than 30 years.

Mustu went on to say that the YPG forces in Kobani are more than 150 forces but there are more than 2000 IS members in the city, adding that the Kurdish forces have been organized inside the city to prevent further IS advance.

Meanwhile local sources confirmed anti-IS coalition jets have bombed the bases of the group and Kobani canton deputy PM stated the bombings have been successful and have killed dozens of the militants.
