MESOP FACING KOBANE TODAY : Kurdish fighters capture 30 ISIS militants near Syrian border city
ARA News – 25-9-2014 – Kobane, Syria – On Wednesday the Kurdish forces of the Popular Protection Units (YPG) captured 30 militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS), an al-Qaeda offshoot, and destroyed one of the IS tanks during their attack on al-Iza’a hill in the western countryside of Kobane (Ain al-Arab) in Aleppo province, northern Syria.
Field media sources told ARA News that the YPG forces (military arm of the Democratic Union Party ‘PYD’) besieged militants of the IS group, after attacking villages of Susan and Ashkaft west of al-Iza’a hill, capturing 30 IS militants, as well as destroying an IS military tank during clashes. On the other hand, the anti-IS air strikes launched by the U.S.-led international coalition bombed main headquarters of the Islamic State’s militants in the Kurdish villages of Zarik (west of the city of Kobane), Qara Qozak and Serrin (South of Kobane) and Korbinkar (Southeast of Kobane). These anti-IS attacks led militants of the Islamic State to gather in sites near the city of Kobane in an attempt to avoid the coalition’s air strikes.
